Benefits of Seeking Christ

Proverbs 3:33-35 (NIV)

The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the home of the righteous.
He mocks proud mockers
but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.
The wise inherit honor,
but fools get only shame.

Proverbs 3:33-35 (KJV)

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

He blesses the home of the righteous, shows favor to the humble and oppressed, and the wise inherit honor. Reminds me of Matthew 6:23

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I love this! To sum this all up, if we honor God, He will take care of us. He will provide for us and give us what we need to survive, in fact He’ll give us more than we need. The Lord provides us the ultimate security. His security, isn’t like job, or financial security. Eventually we can lose our job and financial security with a moments notice, we can’t control all the outside sources. The Lord, however can. When was there a time that the Lord didn’t provide for you when you had your heart with Him? When we seek His righteousness, humble ourselves before Him, and seek His wisdom, He provides for us. He doesn’t provide for us because He has to, but because He loves us and wants to. The Lord is looking to bless us, He’s just waiting for us to show Him favor.

The flip side to this is He curses the wicked, He mocks the proud, and shames the fools. Does this mean He is also looking to ruin us?  No, that would be against everything He has down for us. It simply means when we put ourselves before God, when we don’t put Him first and seek Him, He’s not going to bless us like He does when we seek Him.  We are with Him, or against Him. This doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be hard tines. I believe hard times are important for growth. It means that no matter what happens in life, we should humble ourselves before Christ and seek Him, and He will take care of us like always!
