God and Superheros

The Avengers

Proverbs 3:25-26 (NIV)

Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.

Proverbs 3:25-26 (KJV)

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

There seems to be a common thread I am finding in proverbs, do not fear for the Lord is with you.

Lets look at it like this. Do you have a favorite superhero? I would have to say mine is probably Thor. If Thor was real and he came to me and told me he was going to protect me from all evil, and that I had nothing to fear, I would listen! It’s Thor, the god of thunder, I woud put my confidence in him! Wouldn’t we all if our favorite superheros came to us, especially if a gang of them came like the Avengers, X-Men, the fantastic four, or the justice league? Well how much greater is our Heavenly Father! Those superheros would be a great source of protection from physical threats, but what about internal threats? The Avengers

Our Father in Heaven is the Creator of all. Not only does He protect us, He strengthens us! Our God is omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. What superhero can claim that? Only God can! When we put our confidence in God, He will protect us and keep our feet from being taken. Yes, there will be times when we are sure that our feet will be taken but we must stay strong in our faith. If we are being challenged, it’s not because the  Lord abandoned us, it is because the Lord is making us stronger! What I have learned is that a lot of our difficult time, are times we actually asked for in prayer and they are Gods way of answering them. He doesn’t just give us our answers, but instead He gives us the opportunity for us to work for what we ask for.
