in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
If you are anything like me, you dream big but never follow through on your dreams. I have a list of dreams that I want to fulfill, but never fulfill them. It’s like when you are rock climbing, you can see your next foot hold, or the next spot you are going to put your hand, but if that grip is even slightly out of my reach I won’t take it. I won’t risk the leap of faith. All that is going through my head is that if I miss, I am going to fall with no one there to catch me, so I don’t take the risk.
In this verse we are being told that He will be there to catch us, more than that, if you take that leap of faith with trust in Him, He will carry you to the next grip. He will bring us to the top of our mountain. Occasionally we may miss our target in our leap but that’s okay because Jesus is our safely equipment and He will keep us from falling. He will hold us in place as we try to once again gain grip on our mountain.
I want to challenge you to dream big. Life on earth is to short to just go through the daily routine, to live without any goals or dreams. We should all dream big. Don’t leave it at just a dream though. Don’t look at that mountain and say someday, make someday now! The first step in doing that is active prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
I like these verses because they are telling us to pray often, pray for what we want, the Lord provides us and my favorite when we pray to God and start acting acting like He will give us what we ask for, He will give it to us. That’s not to say He will give it to us every time, because than it wouldn’t be act act of faith. What I want to do is not only challenge you to dream big, but to act on it, and than pray about it. Tell God your plans and ask Him to help you with them. Don’t just tell God your dreams and leave it to Him to decide weather or not He will carry them out.
Act out your faith. Act out your trust. Know He will help you. I can’t stress it enough to always pray and act our your dreams!
