Something that really bothers me as a christian as the way a lot of people dress and how we tend to show off our bodies. I see it both in christians and non christians. We don’t fully realize how the way we can dress effects others and causes them to sin.
1 Corinthians 10:32
Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God–
What I am really getting at is getting people to sin from lust. I notice this more in girls than I do with guys but are both very guilty of it. With girls you see things like low cut shirts to show cleavage, short shorts to show off your legs and butt, tight clothing that shows off the curves of your body, and etc. You might be thinking it is just fun and games wearing them types of clothing, but the reality is you are causing others to look at you and lust after your body and that is breaking the seventh commandement.
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Jesus warns us how dangerous it is to cause others to sin. I don’t mean to pick out the girls either, guys are just as guilty. However, I don’t know much of how guys dress that causes lust in womens eyes. If anyone would like to leave a comment about this, it would be greatly appreciated. The way you dress is definitely not the only way you can cause others to sins, there are many more ways. I wanted to single out the way you dress and show off your body because it is one we often over look and thinking nothing off it. Jesus warns us how causing others to sin is extremely dangerous, so that does include causing others to lust after our body.
We are ment to be examples. Weather you like it or not, there are little ones looking up to us. What we do, is very often mirrored in them. Let’s set a Christ like example in our speech, in our behavior, in our love, in our faith, and in our purity. Purity is often overlooked because it is mislead to believe it is just fun and games and there it’s nothing to take serious.
1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
